TWO AWARDS: THREE TROPHIES AND TWO COMMENDATIONS
The award-winning ethical design brand Nature Squared has always been feted for its ingenious use of traditional craftsmanship and cutting edge technology to create stunning materials from sustainable natural products. So, who better to design Boat International’s Artistry and Craft Awards for this year’s Superyacht Design Festival, taking place in Kitzbühel in Austria from the 2-4 February 2025.
Tasked with designing two trophies for ‘Excellence in Craftsmanship’ and ‘Emerging Artisan of The Year,’ Nature Squared were allowed free reign over the design with the resulting awards proving a breathtaking example of what the brand does best.

ONE design for the trophies and ONE for the commendations, each featuring unique elements and incorporating up to three different types of seashells.
Inspired by the form of a Vortex, which is present in both elements of WATER & AIR as natural phenomenon, the striking trophy designs are like a force of nature in themselves. They are a way of converging the worlds of craft, nature and sailing together into one object.
The natural materials used to make the trophies are Pearl Shell and Dark Pen Shell, all combined with Copper. All these shells would otherwise be discarded as waste, the by-products of fishing and pearl farming. By monetizing these waste products, Nature Squared can support the livelihoods of pearl farmers and fishermen.

Nature Squared co-founder Lay Koon Tan is also a member of the jury for this second year of the Boat Artistry & Craft Awards.
Nature Squared will find themselves in good company at The Superyacht Design Festival 2025, which brings together some of the most important designers and speakers in the super yacht world to discuss the latest trends in boat design and ground-breaking concepts.
