Nature Squared x Oceanco
At the inaugural edition of the Qatar Boat Show, Oceanco showcases the WAVE, a commissioned artwork, by Wendy Tytherleigh and the Nature Squared atelier.
It is part of Oceanco’s broader initiative to promote and showcase sustainability within the yachting industry. The displayed artwork serves as a testament to the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship, showing potential clients that they can commission pieces that meet high aesthetic standards while adhering to sustainable practices. Through this, Oceanco hopes to inspire a shift towards more eco-conscious choices in yacht design and beyond.
Nature Squared has had a long-standing collaboration with Oceanco. Over the years, Nature Squared’s innovative and eco-friendly creations have become a staple on many Oceanco yachts, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship. Nature Squared demonstrates how luxury and environmental responsibility can coexist, offering clients bespoke pieces that are not only visually stunning but also responsibly conscious.
About the Wave Artwork
UK-based Wendy Tytherleigh has chosen to use the humble mussel shell in this stunning artwork.
Inlaid to accentuate the movement of water, the mussel shell showcases the unique qualities seen in natural variation. Subtle reflections are captured within the lighter shells while the darker tones capture the essence of deep water.
The mussel shells are gathered as food waste and at first glance don’t compare with their flashier cousins like mother of pearl. Their complex colours and hidden depths accentuate the messages in this artwork: to look beyond the surface, embrace the juxtaposition of simplicity with complexity, and the richness of life – whether in shells or human society and our interactions with Nature!.
