GRASS TO GROOVE
Bamboo is actually a fast-growing grass, that originated in China and has a documented use by humans for over 5000 years.
Its sustainability is attested to by the existence of INBAR, the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, an inter-governmental organisation that exists to develop and promote innovative solutions to poverty and environmental sustainability using bamboo and rattan.
Our Bamboo strips and Bamboo sunburst surfaces use fragments of bamboo left over after larger pieces have been used for other purposes.
BAMBOO STRIPS BLACK
Struck by the seeming asymmetry of light playing on the nodes of growing bamboo, we created a look that is at once familiar yet abstract. The contrast of the wood on a black ground is reminiscent of the bamboo grove seen from a sunlit foreground into the shade within.
BAMBOO STRIPS WHITE
What a difference colour makes. Against a white ground, our bamboo strips appear more contemporary. Hand-trimmed and inlaid to hint at absent nodes, the total is graphic but versatile.
BAMBOO SUNBURST LIGHT
This surface was inspired by the Art Deco influence of Jean-Michel Franc and traditional straw inlay. Bamboo allows for a matt and more durable surface than the straw of its inspiration, while reflecting the same high quality craftsmanship.
BAMBOO TARTAN BLACK
Run your fingers over this surface to discover the natural intricate detail within the wood. It is hard otherwise to appreciate fully the complexities of its texturing.
